hey i was going to order a 4 liter glass boot online and it says that its made from mouth blown glass, so are mouth blown glass items just made for display or can they really be used? because i dont intend on having this sit on a shelf or something id like to use it, and i would be careful with it, not dropping it all around and slamming it on the counter, i just wanted to know how fragile it is, thanks.
heres what the site says…
PLEASE NOTE:
This is a mouth blown beer boot. It is a work of art and fragile. Mouth blown glass boots are (like all beer glasses) not designed to withstand abuse. Pressed glass boots can handle more rough treatment but like all glass objects, beer boots will break if you are not careful with them. Outside of getting the beer boot to you in perfect condition, TRUEBEER does not offer any warranty – issued or implied.
The Flygsfors designs of Paul Kedelv have shot up in price over the last year or so, perhaps in part because this website kept telling people how good they were. It’s such distinctive, collectable art. I’ve just done a search on the ‘net and I can’t find another example of a Fantasia art glass vase object being sold anywhere. This one cost us considerably more to buy than the selling price of the last one (0 in 2007 for an 8 inch version – it was sold as a wedding present for a couple of art collectors who won’t sell it of course, but I’m sure they’ll be pleased to see the prices rising). I don’t think you’ll see them under US0 again. www.modernistglass.com Height. 25 cm (10 inches) Width: 12 cm Weight: 980 g Engraved “Flygsfors-57″ and “Coquille” to the base, stickered underneath (original price tag?), stickered “Coquille FLYGSFORS SWEDEN” Condition: very light wear to the base aside from a less than 0.5mm fleck, wear to the sticker, a few unintended bubbles (largest 1x3mm), a few scratches to the exterior (longest 2mm) Our Reference: 2668 Price: US 0.00 + shipping
